Kingdom success in SIA Audit 2019!

Kingdom has recently taken part in the annual audit for the SIA (Security Industry Authority) ACS (Approved Contractor Scheme) assessment, for the 13th year in a row. We are thrilled to announce that we have achieved 141 out of a possible 145.

The ACS standard was relaunched in April 2019, reducing the number of criteria and indicators available. The maximum score is now 145. They also reset the minimum achievement level for a number of indicators making it more difficult to achieve.

This outstanding result places us in the top 1% of security companies audited, meaning we are officially one of the very best security companies in the entire UK.

The Security Industry Authority (SIA) is the organisation responsible for regulating the private security industry. It is an independent body that reports to the Home Office and covers the whole of the United Kingdom. The SIA has two main duties. The first is the compulsory licensing of individuals that undertake specific activities within the private security industry. This includes manned guarding (including security guarding, door supervision, close protection, cash and valuables in transit, and public space surveillance using CCTV) and key holding. Being licensed by the SIA means that private security operatives are ‘fit and proper’ persons who are properly trained and qualified to do their job.

The other key role of the SIA is to manage the Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS). This is a voluntary scheme and was established by the SIA to form a set of operational and performance standards for private security companies, measuring them against independently assessed criteria. The objective of the Approved Contractor Scheme, according to their website, is to “raise performance standards and to assist the private security industry in developing new opportunities.” It gives organisations the opportunity to distinguish themselves as being among the best providers of private security services in the UK, and thus gives their clients confidence and trust in them. We are more than happy each year to take advantage of this opportunity to demonstrate that we are one of the very best security companies in the whole country.

To be accredited under the scheme, security companies must voluntarily submit themselves for annual inspection by one of UKAS inspection bodies appointed by the SIA to carry out the task. They are then assessed and given a score.

The accessor commented on the good practice“Kingdom is at the forefront of improving the safety of cities.  The company has excellent contacts with the police in areas such as Scotland. Manchester and the City of London.  Kingdom is working with the police to develop an app, which will be available to the security officers or door staff and the police, so that local intelligence can be shared in the local area.

In addition to this Kingdom colleagues are being trained to undertake ancillary work that the police would normally do for major incidents, such as staffing cordons should a terrorist or major incident occur.

Kingdom is involved on the committee for the City of London Security Council.  Just 12 security companies are involved, who have access to equipment in strategic areas across the City, including defibrillators, grab bags, chemical suits and first aid kits so that they can respond immediately to assist with an incident. “

Commenting on this outstanding result for Kingdom, CEO and founder Terry Barton BA (Hons) said: “With the new SIA scoring coming into play this was going to be a very tough audit our score of 141 is a fantastic result achieved yet again for the Kingdom team and for the 13th year running. All at Kingdom should be very proud. This is the result of the continued extremely hard work and effort of every colleague who works for Kingdom. To achieve another brilliant score is an incredible achievement and demonstrates the continued success of our company... This result demonstrates not only the professional services Kingdom offer, but most importantly the colleagues within it, and we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone in Kingdom who has contributed towards this outstanding result.”
