Kingdom colleague runs half marathon for charity

John RobertsCongratulations to John Roberts (pictured on the right), one of Kingdom’s training officers in the Environmental Protection Division, who has recently run a half marathon in order to raise money for charity.

John ran the Southend half marathon on Sunday 9th July along with his two brothers, James and Robert, in order to raise money for Havens Hospices.

Fair Havens Hospice is in Westcliff on Sea in Essex, and Little Havens Hospice is in Benfleet in Essex. Havens Hospices are there to help families that have been told that there’s no cure for their loved one’s illness, and that all that can be done is make their life comfortable.

Fair Havens Hospice and Little Havens Hospice focus on the individual needs of the adults and children that they care for, “making every day count” for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. They’re the only place in the area wholly dedicated to looking after those with an illness which could shorten their life. They care not just for patients but their families, friends and neighbours too. They are not part of the NHS, but are a registered charity and receive limited government funding, instead relying on the support and generosity of the community, and through fundraising activity such as this. John completed the 13 mile run in 2 hours and 38 minutes. The three brothers have so far raised £195, which is £55 short of their £250 target. If you would like to make a donation to support this very worthy cause then you can still do so by visiting their JustGiving page -
