Kingdom employee collecting for flood victims

clip_image002One of Kingdom’s employees, Amanda Gallop, is collecting donated items for the victims of the flooding in the North West.

Amanda is based at Kingdom’s National Support Centre in Eccleston, St Helens, and will be driving a van up to Carlisle on the evening of Friday 11th December. She is asking colleagues in the area who would like to help to make small donations of any of the items listed below so that they can be given to the people who are currently stranded.

  • Toiletries
  • Clothes (large T-shirts, jeans/pants)
  • Blankets/sleeping bags
  • Cleaning products
  • Bin bags
  • Tinned/packet food

Amanda has links to the area as her children live there, and so knows well what people are going through in Lancaster, Morecambe, Kendal, Carlisle, Cockermouth, Keswick, Appleby and other places in the area that have been affected by the storms and the floods.

Commenting on why she is collecting items, Amanda said: “My own children were lucky enough to escape flooding, however they currently have friends and work colleagues staying with them who are unable to return to their homes for quite some time. What some do not realise is that although the water is now receding, everything in its path will be contaminated, and as such the loss to many will be more than a few couches and carpets. That is why the items mentioned would be most welcomed”.

For anyone who would like to help the individuals and communities in Cumbria that have been affected by the flooding, an appeal has been launched by the Cumbria Community Foundation to raise funds in order to provide financial assistance to help the individuals and families that have been affected.
