Police praise Kingdom for help with incident

The situation is explained in an email from an officer from the West Midlands Police, who wrote to Kingdom saying:

“I am emailing you to place my thanks for your assistance in dealing with the suspicious package left outside Deichmann Shoes, High Street, which I was sent to deal with whilst working with you on litter enforcement.

“As you know there was a delay in uniform officers attending and whilst waiting for them with your assistance we managed to clear members of the public from the danger, and you know how difficult a task that was, but I could not have managed that on my own without your assistance.

“Could you please also pass my thanks to other members of your team.

“I know in dealing with this incident it took us away from litter enforcement but it was great to put team work in action.”

Kingdom provides environmental protection services to Birmingham City Council, and has done for a number of years, tackling street litter and city centre issues such as graffiti, fly posting and smoking in prohibited areas.

Whilst the role of our Environmental Protection officers up and down the country is to tackle litter, dog fouling, criminal damage, graffiti, fly-tipping and other environmental crimes or anti-social behaviour, the fact is that they are also a uniformed, highly visible presence in public spaces providing many residents with a feeling of safety and security, making them the obvious people to turn to for help in emergency situations.

For this reason, our environmental protection officers often step in or are called upon to provide first aid or protect members of the public whilst out on patrol. In essence, the role Kingdom plays allows our officers to act as the eyes and ears of the community, and we are proud to play such a key role in many towns and cities up and down the country.
