Kingdom supports colleague’s charity fundraisers

Group photo 3 Fri NightKingdom was very pleased to support the recent fundraising efforts of one of our colleagues, Breda Mead, who along with her husband Chris organised a two day charity event and raised £2,000 for good causes.

Breda is the Front of House Manager at the Europe Headquarters of Kingdom’s client Gartner, the world’s leading research and advisory company, in Egham, Surrey.

On Friday 27th October they hosted a 1920s Murder Mystery Evening, and on Saturday 28th October they held a Black Tie Ball with dinner and dancing. The two events were for a Masonic Ladies Festival. Chris is a Freemason, and this was the Ladies Festival. The events took place at the Tortworth Estate in South Gloucestershire, a Costwolds country estate house set in 30 acres of parkland. The venue is a picture perfect Grade II listed Victorian mansion house.

Group Photo 2 Sat night71 people attended the two events, with all proceeds from the weekend donated to two charities - Bipolar UK and Dementia UK. Although fancy dress was optional, a large number of the guests joined in to really get in the spirit to raise money for the chosen good causes.

The two charities are particularly close to Breda and Chris’s hearts, as Chris’s son Lee (Breda’s stepson) suffers from bipolar, and Breda’s dad suffers from dementia. Bipolar UK is the national charity dedicated to supporting individuals with the much misunderstood and devastating condition of bipolar, their families and carers. They provide a range of support services for individuals affected by bipolar, including information, support and advice, a national network of support groups, a moderated 24/7 web-based peer support forum, a mentoring service, youth service and workplace training. They work to ensure all individuals with bipolar can manage their illness and lead independent lives.

Dementia UK offers specialist one-to-one support and expert advice to help people living with dementia through their unique admiral nurses who work hand in hand with families, helping them cope with the fear, uncertainty and difficult everyday reality of dementia.

Group Photo 2 Fri NightBreda and Chris raised approximately £2,000 for these two amazing charities, with proceeds being raised over the weekend from a prize raffle which took place on the Saturday night, and via donations from Kingdom, Gartner and some smaller local businesses in the Staines area. We were very proud to support this event, and would like to congratulate Breda and Chris on such a fantastic achievement.
