Dancing Kingdom officer at IKEA car park goes viral

One of Kingdom’s officers at IKEA’s newest store in Sheffield has gone viral after being filmed dancing whilst directing cars and welcoming customers to IKEA’s car park.

Kingdom’s officers were in action for the opening week of IKEA’s latest store in Sheffield, which opened its doors to the general public on Thursday 28th September 2017, and saw thousands of customers visit for the opening evening alone. Kingdom provided 15 licensed staff each day to IKEA during the opening week.

One of the officers was Nana Asare, who has become something of an online sensation, after a video of him was uploaded to the IKEA Facebook page with the post “Credit to this man at the IKEA Sheffield store #dedication.” That post has so far been liked nearly 2,000 times, shared nearly 500 times and been commented on nearly 300 times.

The story has now been reported in The Star, under the headline, “Hilarious footage of dancing parking attendant at Sheffield IKEA goes viral”, saying the following:

Footage of a parking attendant dancing enthusiastically whilst working at Sheffield IKEA has gone viral.

“The new IKEA finally opened on Sheffield Road in Tinsley earlier this month with the store employing around 480 people.

“Staff were out in force on the opening day, cheering new customers in and waving Swedish flags.

“However, one employee’s job enthusiasm has not stopped there as he’s been spotted breaking out some dance moves whilst directing cars around the car park.

“The man is filmed dramatically beckoning cars in, ordering them to stop and directing them out whilst throwing in some energetic dance moves.

“Sheffield Hallam student Joe Dawson filmed the fantastic footage and uploaded it to IKEA’s Facebook page.”

Kingdom has provided retail security to all of IKEA’s stores in the UK (including Belfast), as well as their two distribution centres for seven years now, having first started providing security to the company in the UK in 2010. In 2014 it was announced that Kingdom would be the sole security provider to IKEA in the UK. Kingdom provides IKEA with a unique security service which has been tailored specifically to match the IKEA environment and work ethos. When Kingdom was last audited by IKEA to make sure that they were compliant with the IKEA work ethos and standards, they received high praise.

IKEA is a multinational group of companies that designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture, appliances and home accessories, and since January 2008 has been the world’s largest furniture retailer. The company was founded in Sweden in 1943 by the then 17-year-old Ingvar Kamprad, and the acronym IKEA stands for Ingvar Kamprad, Elmtaryd (the name of the farm where he grew up) Agunnardyd (his home town in south Sweden).

IKEA now has around 400 stores in 49 countries. Their vision is “to create a better everyday life for the many people”, and their business idea is “to offer a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at prices so low that as many people as possible will be able to afford them”.

Kingdom is an established retail specialist with a dedicated retail division that works in partnership with some of the biggest names in retail to reduce shrinkage and provide a return on investment (ROI).
