Kingdom supports teens fundraising to tackle Alzheimer’s

Alzheimers 2Kingdom has been very pleased to sponsor the daughter of one of their colleagues who has been raising money for charity.

16 year old Sophie Fairhurst is the daughter of Anne Fairhurst, a Management Accountant at Kingdom.

Sophie took part in a 13 mile walk on Monday 17th July wearing fancy dress in order to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Sophie spent a month on the National Citizen Service (NCS) course, and for the third week of this, the teams had to pick a charity, decide how to raise funds for it, organise the event and then complete the task.

Sophie’s team picked the Alzheimer’s Society, as many of the team members knew of someone who has suffered from it. The Alzheimer’s Society aims to transform the landscape of dementia forever, and until the day that a cure is found, they aspire to create a society where those affected by dementia are supported, accepted and able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.

For the rest of the NCS course, the teenagers spent the first week team building in Yorkshire, the second week living in halls at Liverpool University and the fourth week helping out at charity organisations and nursing homes.
