Kingdom joins the British Safety Council

PrintKingdom is pleased to announce that they have become members of the leading health and safety organisation, the British Safety Council.

The British Safety Council is dedicated to making sure no-one is injured or made ill at work. Their role is to help businesses to achieve the very highest Health and Safety standards required by law, and to protect their bottom line and staff alike.

In order to do this, they teach the right courses to the people who need them. By becoming a member of this organisation, Kingdom now gets access to key information, expert training and the right people. This includes receiving 100 free e-learning places, a monthly magazine, updates on legislation, and Kingdom is also able to attend a range of seminars, conferences and networking opportunities.

The British Safety Council has worked tirelessly since it was founded 60 years ago in 1957 to make the British workplace safer. This year they are celebrating their 60th anniversary, and it is fair to say that the British workplace is now far safer than it was back in the 1950s, and that the British Safety Council has played a key part in making sure that is the case.

The British Safety Council was founded by James Tye, a campaigner whose efforts also led to the introduction of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 – a key piece of legislation that is the cornerstone of health and safety measures in the workplace today – as well as to the introduction of car seat belts.

In 2004 they became a government-regulated awarding organisation, and since then they have developed a full suite of health and safety qualifications in the national framework. Their job is to help professionals to achieve high standards, and to protect both their staff and the future of their business. They help organisations to manage legislation and compliance, as well as systematically raising health, safety and environmental standards. They help all types of businesses from small independent start-ups to large international organisations. Their central belief is that everyone has the right to safe and healthy working conditions, and in order to achieve this, they aim to:

  • Promote the importance of health and safety
  • Build understanding and capability
  • Promote leadership and workforce engagement
  • Share knowledge and experience
  • Campaign for sensible legislation and regulation
