Kingdom helps shopping centre win multiple awards again

clip_image002Kingdom’s commercial cleaning team at Castlepoint Shopping Centre in Bournemouth has once again helped the shopping centre to win a range of awards.

Kingdom helped their client to win three Bournemouth in Bloom Awards last year, but that outstanding achievement was beaten this year with the shopping centre winning a total of five awards.

These were:

  • Silver Gilt Award in the Arcades / Covered Shopping Areas (Commercial & Public Category)
  • Gold Award in the Best Hanging Baskets / Containers (Commercial & Public Category)
  • Gold Award in the Best Landscaped Commercial Premises (Commercial & Public Category)
  • Winner of the Garden of Excellence (Commercial Sector)
  • Winner of the BCTC Bournemouth in Bloom Cup

clip_image004Kingdom played a huge part in helping their client to win these awards, as the team at Castlepoint Shopping Centre is responsible for carrying out the landscaping on site. Sean Page, Kingdom’s Contract Manager at the site (pictured on the far right of the first photo), and Steve Frost (second from the right), Kingdom’s landscape gardener there, have previously been highly praised by the shopping centre for implementing new areas of attractive and creative landscaping.

Commenting on the work involved to win the awards for their client, Sean Page said: “The dry summer made it a tremendous effort as often we would pull the team from other work at the park to simply help water the horticultural features that have been recognised by the judges. We could not let the many new flower beds enjoyed by visitors to the 41 acre site created by our landscaper Steve Frost just wilt in the heat.”

When possible the water used had been collected from a tank fed from rainwater collected on one of the roofs as part of Castlepoint’s eco initiatives. Steve is now preparing for the spring display of bulbs and protecting the more delicate plants from the winter frosts.
