Nottingham’s Central Fire Station is in the process of closing down, with Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service moving across the city into a brand new purpose built state-of-the-art building. Kingdom is pleased to be helping to complete this process.
Kingdom is providing manned guarding and mobile patrol services at both the old and new sites whilst Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service moves. Kingdom is a national security supplier that specialises in risk, loss and the protection of property, people and brand. Our UK wide mobile patrol, lock and unlock service is a cost-effective, efficient and visible deterrent solution for low risk sites such as this, and ranges from a simple visual drive-by to a full walk and check or lock and unlock function.
The move to sell off the old fire station on Shakespeare Street has been long planned with the old building, which has become outdated and no longer financially viable, dating back to 1940. The old fire station is a 3,700 square metre building that is no longer fit for purpose, as both energy bills and repair bills have been growing rapidly. The fire and rescue service is therefore moving to a new Central Fire Station which has been built on London Road, at the junction with Crocus Street.
The new fire station will allow fire fighters to respond to calls more quickly and will help to save money. The location of the new 1,000 square metre building has been chosen provide easy access to many Nottinghamshire neighbourhoods, allowing the fire and rescue service to respond to calls as quickly as possible. It has been designed to last for more than 50 years and will use less than a quarter of the energy when compared to the current Central Fire Station, reducing both carbon emissions and costs significantly. The handover of the new building was carried out on the 11th August 2016, and the move is expected to be completed in September.
