Kingdom’s Environmental Protection teams attend training

imageKingdom’s Environmental Protection Division held their 2016 Annual Team Leader Seminar at the Holiday Inn Birmingham on the 19th and 20th April 2016.

The course was attended by representatives from every one of Kingdom’s Environmental Protection Division sites in the country and was aimed at benchmarking performance and service across Kingdom’s 30 current local authority clients.

Kingdom’s Environmental Protection Division is led by experts with an ex-police and military background. Their specialist teams deliver over 270,000 Environmental Protection hours per annum on behalf of local authorities. They issue fixed penalty notices (FPNs) to offenders who are seen breaking the Environmental Protection Act 1990 in streets, parks and open spaces. They tackle street litter, dog fouling, smoking in prohibited areas, the illegal distribution of free material, criminal damage, graffiti, fly-tipping and other anti-social behaviour.

Kingdom’s Environmental Protection Division has doubled the number of local authorities that it provides services to in the last 12 months through pure organic growth and with that growth its procedures and practises needed to be standardised more than ever, with improvements implemented to both patrol skills and back office support. Some great ideas and working practises were shared between the delegates, which will assist them on their return to sites.

The course included:

  • Incident reporting
  • New starters (induction and training)
  • Assignment instructions
  • Mentorship programme
  • Weekly and monthly procedures
  • Blue Ribbon Team Leader Training
  • Sales leads
  • EPD news stories
  • Recruitment and retention of staff
  • Development opportunities
  • Voluntary litter picking
  • Added value for clients
  • The EPD journey and forecasts for 2016/17
  • IT support
  • Back office support
  • Policy documents, body worn cameras and data
  • Training manual
  • Standard operating procedures
  • Administration training manual

The conference was extremely well received, with many new friendships brokered which extends this part of the Kingdom family by creating a ‘peer to peer’ group in terms of exchanging knowledge and skills. Desktop exercises were carried out and there was full audience participation for every module covered. The course also served to reassure staff nationally of their importance to the company and their place within it.

Commenting on the course, Kingdom’s Relationship Director, Michael Fisher, said:

“I would like to express my thanks to Kingdom’s Regional Manager John Dunne and to our dedicated management team for their hard work above and beyond the call of duty in putting this course together. I am absolutely certain the attendees and the organisation, together with our clients, will reap the benefits of this conference. We have of course made all of our clients aware of the course and of its aims and objectives. All are incredibly supportive and have welcomed Kingdom’s efforts to continually improve performance.”
