Kingdom bring leading counter terrorism expert onto director team
Michael has joined Kingdom as Director of Intelligence and Cyber and will be based at the company’s central London office but will work with Kingdom’s clients across the UK in all sectors.
Dr McDonagh was formerly a Detective Chief Superintendent with the Metropolitan Police where he was commanding officer of its Counter Terrorism Protective Security Command.
He has a wealth of experience – both in the UK and abroad – and prior to becoming one of Britain’s foremost Counter Terrorism officers he served with the Met’s Homicide Command, Covert Policing, Specialist Crime Intelligence and Child Protection units. Before joining the police he served with the Corp of Royal Engineers.
Dr McDonagh holds a Masters degree in Business Management, is a nationally qualified counter terrorism security co-ordinator, a Freeman of the City of London, a member of ASIS and the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals.
He was awarded his doctorate for studies utilising counter terrorism law across communities in London.
He was the senior national protective security liaison officer for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and was responsible for political, personal and physical security issues.
“I am very much looking forward to working with Kingdom’s diverse portfolio of clients,” said Dr McDonagh.
“Kingdom is growing rapidly across the UK and the opportunity to lead this division was too good an opportunity to turn down.
“I see it as a two way street – I bring my set of skills to the table but I will learn a lot from Kingdom’s talented team too.
“Businesses and individuals in the UK face security issues that are evolving on an almost daily basis – it is vital that they identify those issues as quickly as possible and deal with them effectively.
“Regardless of their size or industry, businesses can even find themselves targeted because of associations with other businesses or even a case of they’re just in the wrong location – perhaps next to another business that activists are targeting.
“We’re going to be providing our clients with a one-stop shop providing them with the best possible intelligence product that will further enhance Kingdom’s reputation as a market leader.”
Dr McDonagh will host a number of breakfast meetings at Kingdom’s offices where key industry professionals will give presentations to attendees.
He will also advise Kingdom’s clients on critical incident management, executive travel, crisis management, kidnap and ransom and corporate and criminal investigation management.
Terry Barton, Kingdom’s CEO said: “Michael’s CV speaks for itself.
“He is a highly respected and talented individual and we are delighted that he has decided to join the Kingdom family.
“His wealth of experience and expertise will further enhance Kingdom’s ability to give our clients the very best security analysis and advice possible.”
