Kingdom to provide Environmental Protection to Merton Council

LitterKingdom is delighted to announce that we will start providing Environmental Protection services in the London Borough of Merton on behalf of Merton Council as part of the council’s “Cleaner Merton” project from the 28th April.

Kingdom’s priority will be tackling the issue of street litter in the London borough. This will involve issuing fixed penalty notices (FPNs) to offenders who are seen breaking the Environmental Protection Act 1990s in streets, parks and open spaces, with the aim being to make the borough cleaner, safer and greener, and to reduce anti-social behaviour.

Kingdom’s Environmental Protection team is led by experts with an ex-police and military background. Kingdom’s officers aim to be vigilant and discreet to strike the right public service balance. They deliver over 130,000 Environmental Protection hours per annum on behalf of Local Authorities across the UK. It has been estimated that the annual cost of cleaning the UK’s streets is £780million.

As well as tackling litter, Kingdom’s Environmental Protection team also deal with dog fouling and control orders, commercial and residential waste and waste disposal licence checks, smoking in prohibited areas, illegal distribution of free material, criminal damage, graffiti, fly-tipping and posting.
